Wine and Cheese Me

Coming off the Casamigos craze of 2021, I know we all last year, I recently noticed that the young distinguished crowd has started to enter a new arena. Beyond the Hookah and cigars, beyond the “I’m outside” moves, there is a new rise in young adults frequenting wine lounges. So much so, there has even been the launch of a TV show centered around this very topic. Grand Crew is out now on the Peacock Network, and it's funny. It's only right that I offer you a couple to try and check out.

Here are my top wines for the new or seasoned to try and I want to hear from you as well on what you think. I know wine isn’t on everyone’s list but here are some to try.

Bonus point these are all black-owned

If you like sweet let’s start with Moscato – MYX Moscato is owned by Nicki Minaj Not going to pretend I prefer sweet wines but I thought it was outstanding. If you are just getting into wine, this is a very good starting point and it's good if you are just relaxing and chilling with friends. A little deeper is going to be a Pinot Grigio, and Love Cork Screw is delicious. It's smooth with an extraordinary taste and a go-to for me. On top of that, they have virtual wine tastings on their website so if you are going to give it a try you can check it out. If you are into Rosé, Black Girl Magic is phenomenal! Light and crisp it's perfect for entertaining and it was an instant got to have it when I sampled it. The cool fact about BGM is it's owned by sisters that have created their lane on the scene, and I enjoyed it.

John Legend has his LVE Chardonnay, it's smooth and buttery, and is definitely worth the change to become a favorite. I can’t say much, but I was introduced to it and instantly ordered a bottle for the house. Last but not least for my red wine lovers, I have to add The Guilty Grape Cabernet Sauvignon… bold and sexy is all I can say. The owners are twin sisters, oddly enough I found them on Instagram. I am looking forward to giving it a try, it's still on pre-order, but I am looking forward to it. Definitely will be reviewing once my bottle comes in!

As we embark on 2022, I genuinely hope if you are joining the #WineDown this year you should give these a try. If you would like me to write a comprehensive breakdown of wines, or the whole culture, please let me know in the comments. I’ll be sure to go more in-depth. PS… I am not endorsed or sponsored by anyone I’m just a guy who looking at a bottle wanting to drink it and I get to support black excellence.

This article gave me some new wines to try, thank you. I've always loved John Legend's chardonnay!
