wristwatches & bowties

Ok, this one is more for my Gentlemen but, ladies take note (it might impress someone around the table), we can all picture the classic masculine man of old. Sharp suit, cufflinks, perfect cologne wearing a stunning gold watch, and bowtie tying the whole picture together. Some would only tie the Bowtie to the nation brother selling pies and papers on the corner but none the less, where did the art of it all go?

Gents let's start with the watch and, as hard as it may be to sit that cell phone down let's talk about the classic wristwatch and its functionality as THE male accessory. Once upon a time, I heard the great Louis Armstrong said: "put a $20 gold piece on my watch chain so the boys will all know I died standing fast..." He was referring to a pocket watch which was a very popular status symbol of the time. Since then the times have brought us out of the pocket and onto your wrist and I have to say nothing says style like a nice watch that accents your clothing but even deeper your masculine image. Gents a black finish, stainless steel, rose gold, or yellow gold accent just above your pulse might be that line between the boys and the men! And it doesn't have to be a $400 Rolex, a simple yet elegant timepiece is just enough to complete any style.

I'm taken back to a time not too long ago where I was traveling, I had 3 bags a personal backpack, and a duty-free back all trying to get to my gate for a flight I knew was going to be boarding within the hour and I was still waiting to check my bags. Shuffling tirelessly try to get to my iPhone just to check how much time I had before my cardiac arrest set in, a little voice spoke to me saying "wish I had a watch on right now" and that's just it. We spend too much time gazing deeply into our phones and we go from checking the time to checking Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, that missed text and email... When all we wanted to know was the time. Gents, I beg you spend $20 but and just get a watch already. It will make your life a little easier and simpler.

In fairness, the apple watch or iwatch serves its purpose just the same. I own one and love it dearly but I am focusing on the point that a good old fashion timepiece is essential. Also, the smartwatches now come with bands and finishes to give it the look of a classic watch but to me, it's just not the same.

The Bowtie is the signature of the true gentleman and contrary to popular belief it not hard to learn how to tie it. Whether it's from YouTube or grandpa Joe, you should learn to tie a bow tie and be ready to rock it every chance you get. I feel like in the past men understood the simplicity of fashion it's time we picked up the ball and ran with it. There are a lot of men that don't understand the bowties look when it comes to stature but, we are the exception to that rule. So #1 take the time to learn to tie a Bowtie #2 learn the trick of tying a bow tie out of a regular tie and #3 take the time to WOW your friends and set the example of fashion forwardness the world needs.

Another factor is the style of the bow ties, much like a traditional tie, there are many patterns and accents you can match up with, Cufflinks or dare I say that new wristwatch? Boys you are now catapulting yourself to the front of the pack and with just a couple of tweaks, you are what the ladies wanna see! I've added a couple of my favorite links below to get you started. Gentlemen Welcome to the future! Now go forth and be awesome!!

Remember style can be trendy or classic, it's all in what you make it, so make it your own.
